Why UniCCC?

The Architecure, Engineering and Construction Industry (AECI) data is acknowledged to be unstructured and high-dimensional. Efforts were undertaken to tackle this problem using several regional Unified Classification Systems (UCSs). However, existing UCSs exhibit significant inconsistencies, such as regional omissions, terminological disparities, and diverse data structuring, underscoring the need for a unified comprehensive international UCS. Accordingly, a 5-year research work was led by Dr. Bouhmoud, pioneering the 1st international UCS ‘Unified Classification of Construction Components_UniCCC’.

By addressing inconsistencies, smartly structuring AECI knowledge from most regional contexts, using a faceted classification scheme aligned with ISO 12006, and being developed using the conventional modeling language BPMN2.0 (ISO/IEC 19510), UniCCC represents a significant advancement in UCSs. This consists of promising implications for global AECI practices and research, paving the way for new avenues in AECI performance, innovation, and sustainability. It demonstrated efficiency in various CI aspects, including risk reduction, automation, and sustainability enhancement.
